For many serious professional music artists, teaching is an important part of their music careers.
Erika started her performing career at 10 years of age during her first elementary school talent show and never looked back. A permanent Nationally Certified Private Instructor of excellence in piano and theory (MTNA) for over 3 decades, Erika applied her growing teaching and music performance abilities to help children and grown-ups get more out of their music performance and education studies through general music and her own unique specialty: Jazz.
Her serious, yet fun approach to private lessons in jazz, classical and popular music on piano, guitar and voice in her music studio and through her instruction and performance in elementary and charter schools such as High Desert Montessori School through the Pacific Mist Music lessons program help bridge the gap between teacher, parent and student learning to achieve the ultimate in positive results.
Erika also offers instruction through jazz masterclasses and recitals with her partner David Aller on acoustic bass and also teaches general music, vocal and instrumental jazz clinics, workshops, residencies, masterclasses and camps for all ages and absolutely LOVES it!
ONLINE ZOOM LESSONS AND FACETIME LESSONS
Available on piano, guitar, voice, recorder, ukelele, upright bass or electric bass, a convenient option for private music study and instruction.
Lessons are invoiced and we accept almost all methods of payment.

Music From Quarantine LIVE Facebook concert featuring children’s jazz! This video features original and Peanuts/Pink Panther cartoon theme jazz music that we’ve been playing in the schools since the Smithsonian Institute Duke Ellington Traveling Exhibition sponsored us to play for Seeliger and Empire Elementary Schools in Carson City back in the late 1990’s. We never stopped.
We have currently played our interactive history of jazz assembly concerts in over 100 schools for over 100,000 school kids K-6th. Some of the kids had never heard of jazz before and didn’t realize that jazz originated in America and is well-loved and respected worldwide as our gift to culture, society and above all music!
The originals are from Erika’s “Scat’s My Bag” children’s cd that was awarded the NAPPA National Parenting Publications Honors, the Children’s Web Music and the Parents Choice Foundation awards of excellence back in 2005. This massive CD project, with it’s matching coloring/drawing storybook and leadsheet songbook are no longer available online, only available through email/snail mail at erika@thejazzlady.com. SMB CD $15/coloring-drawing storybook $10/songbook $12.
